Bayview Poultry Farms
Wind
The Situation
It all began with a simple discussion at the kitchen table. Glenn Jennings, owner of Bayview Poultry Farms in Masstown, Nova Scotia, was looking to reduce his power bill. Bayview’s 12,000 layers produce 10,000 eggs daily. The housing, grading and cooling facilities consume 110,000 kW of electricity annually.
The Solution
Located next to Cobequid Bay, Bayview Farms is in a very windy location with plenty of buildings and electrical panels to connect the turbines to. This helps lower the cost, especially when the client assisted in the six week process, reducing labor hours and gaining a strong understanding of his new system. The turbines link to Nova Scotia Power’s net metering program, which credits customers for each kW they produce.
